The application concerns the conviction of the applicant for membership of the TKİP (Communist Workers’ Party of Turkey), an illegal organisation under Articles 220 § 6 and 314 of the Criminal Code on account of the following acts: Organising and participating in demonstrations and other public gatherings in line with the will and the activities of TKİP, disseminating propaganda in favour the TKİP by way of selling newspapers and periodicals which share the ideology of that organisation and carrying out educational activities by way of organising meetings in houses to read and discuss books with a view to recruiting new members to TKİP.
